The original M400 Blue-striped Souverän as it was first introduced in 1995.

The fountain pen listed here is a new old stock pen, dating before the 1998 redesign. Note such original characteristics as the monochromatic yellow gold nib, the lack of decorative rings near the piston knob, and the single -instead of double- ring on the lower part of the cap.

The M400 fountain pens are equipped with 14kt gold nibs, and Pelikan's standard piston filling system. They measure 12.5 cm when capped and weigh 15.3 grams when empty.
