Visconti Voyager Quintessenz Dörrbecker Limited Edition Fountain Pen

The Quintessenz Dörrbecker is a limited edition fountain pen released in 1998, in a cooperation between the Visconti and Dörrbecker, a German stationary shop based in Bremen.

Dörrbecker was a retailer with a long tradition, who operated from 1861 to 2006.

The Visconti Quintessenz Dörrbecker edition is roughly based on the classic Visconti Voyager, but it is slightly slimmer than the majority of Voyager models. It measures 14.1cm capped, has a 14kt gold nib, Visconti's bow clip, and Visconti's power filling system.

It is the celluloid that sets this pen apart. The barrel, the grip and the cap of the fountain pen are made of a celluloid nicknamed "Quintessence" which is believe to have been manufactured in the 1930s. This particular celluloid presents hues of silver and grey, and matches perfectly the silver-coated metallic details of the pen.

The continuity of the celluloid is interrupted at the point where the barrel meets the grip, where Visconti has placed a very practical slit that allows you to check the ink level.

Total production for this edition was 88 numbered fountain pens.

The pen we have on offer here came to us from a private collection, but seems to be unused, and with the exception of some wear and aging on the metallic parts appears to be in excellent condition. The fountain pen is marked S2/88 so we believe it to be a sample.

It comes in a period correct Visconti box.
