Visconti Alexander the Great Limited Edition Fountain Pen
Visconti is presenting an outstanding limited edition fountain pen to celebrate the magnificence of one of the greatest generals and statesmen of all time, Alexander the Great.
This edition, issued in 2023, will be available in 323 numbered fountain pens, a number commemorating the year of Alexander's passing, and comes in a luxurious giftbox that also serves as a pen-stand, and is decorated with a bronze statue of Alexander the Great riding Bucephalus.
This exceptional fountain pen has an over-size body, intricately decorated, features extraordinary details, and bursts with symbolism.
The barrel and cap of the pen feature a map of the territories conquered by Alexander the Great done in scrimshaw. The center of the barrel is covered by a cast-bronze sleeve that features a coin with Alexander's head, surrounded by a meander, and framed by Hellenistic symbols. On the flip side of the barrel, Alexander the Great appears on horseback, racing after a Persian fighter.
The clip of the fountain pen has the shape of the Sarissa, the infamous Macedonian long-spear that the armies of Alexander carries, and also features a shield with the sun of Vergina, symbol of the Argeads.
The edges of the fountain pen remind us of the shape of Hellenistic pillars.
This is an extraordinary pen, full of symbolism, a pen that matches the aspirations of great leaders.
