In this series, there are Raden (mother-of-pearl) parts on the barrel and cap. Raden artwork is usually used for very expensive maki-e pens and it’s quite unique to put Raden on resins. The Shimmering Raden parts firs the theme of ‘Princess’ the elegant and dazzling.

Raden artwork can show several colors, depending on the type of shell or the technique used. This time, different shell colors were chosen for each design. Hope you can enjoy differences. Illustrations of the Yumi Maki-e also took a lot of trial & error. Sailor artists re-drew the illustrations until they were satisfied with it and made the sample three times until the face of the Uguisu bird looked lovely.

This Sailor Professional Gear Slim is inspired by the story of Princess Uguisu, a princess from Japanese fairytales. It features iconic motifs and colors from fairytale, intricately expressed with beautiful mother of pearl and yuubi maki-e on the barrel and cap.

Princess Uguisu:
Princess Uguisu is a bush warbler, living disguised in human form.
One day, she receives a young visitor and asks him not to open the chest of drawers,
but curiosity tempts him to take a peek. With the promise broken,
she says she must leave, and she flies off in her avian form.
