A Rare Classic

A rare pen can at times be more special than a limited edition.

The Pelikan Classic M200 Snakeskin presented here is a truly rare pen, and it appears in no official catalogue that we are aware of.

The M200 Snakeskin features all the standard characteristics of the Classic M200 series, the integrated piston, the screw cap, the stainless steel nib, and the gold coated metal details. It barrel is made of a very interesting Snakeskin resin, that looks very similar to the barrels of the M101N Lizard released in 2012, but is not identical. 

On the basis of aesthetic details, like the style of the logo, the cap, and the marking "Germany" (instead of "W. Germany") we can estimate that the pen was produced post-unification, but before the lifting the series received in 1997.

According to some sources, the pen was not a model in normal circulation, but one that was only available in the United States, and only on special order through the Home Depot department stores.

Although we cannot verify the story thoroughly, we can assure you that this is a truly rare pen that rarely comes to the market.

The pen offered here is preowned but in excellent condition, and comes in a standard Pelikan gift box. It was tested and found to be perfectly operational in early July of 2023. The writing in the background of the images was done with the pen listed here.

Pelikan's M200 is 12.5 cm long when capped, weights 14.0 grams empty.
