Following the introduction of the special editions "Niagara Falls", "Sahara", "Polar Lights", "Mount Everest", and "Indian Summer", Pelikan issued the Arctic "Eternal Ice" special edition.

The Beauties of Nature - Polar Lights Special Edition is an ode to the unique caleidoscopic effect sunlight creates near the poles of our planet. On the edges of the planet the rays of the Sun seem never to penetrate the Earth's atmosphere and only to run tangent to it. This unique image has left explorers of the polar regions in awe ever since man stepped foot there.

This is a special edition fountain pen released in 2008. It has an 18kt gold nib, and Pelikan's traditional piston filling system.
