The pen that started the series in 1992, and nowadays one of the most iconic and most highly coveted Montblanc pens, the Montblanc Writers Edition Hemingway.

The pen listed here is preowned but unused, it is in new old stock condition, and comes with the full set of box and papers (papers neither stamped nor dated).

The Tribute to Ernest Hemingway is an unassuming and yet extraordinary pen. Its design draws on classic pens from the first half of the 20th century, most notably the Montblanc 139 series. The barrel has a vibrant coral color, matched to a dark brown cap, and gold coated metallic fittings.

It is a piston filler, and has a large (149-size) two-tone nib made of 18kt gold. Interestingly, the nib has an etching of vintage inspiration, but unlike all following editions does not have a clearly themed etching, nor does it have the year of release on it.

In our opinion this is a pen that is beautiful of its own accord and would stand out even if it were not the first of Montblanc's Writers Editions. The fact that it is, gives the Hemingway an iconic, even legendary status.

This is the grail pen of many collectors.

The Hemingway edition included 20000 numbered fountain pens, and interestingly enough it did not have the numbering of the series on the resin parts of the cap - the spot with which we are accustomed to see it today.
