The Duofold Maki-e Leaping Carp is a unique work of Maki-e art developed on a classic black Parker Duofold Centennial.

The Leaping Carp is inspired by the Chinese legend attached to the waterfall called "The Dragon Gate".

The Dragon Gate is driven by a ferocious stream, very fast and strong, its waters drop more than 100 feet. At its basin many carp gather. Some are swept away by the strong currents, some fall prey to eagles, others are shot with arrows by fishermen lining the banks of the river.

Legend has it that the carp that succeds to climb the waterfall will turn into a Dragon.

The Carp is a symbol of bravery, strength, and perseverance in the face of adversity, and it is widely present in Asian art.

The fountain pen is equipped with an 18k gold nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system.
