Namiki Nippon Art Mount Fuji and Wave Fountain Pen

One Symbol stands above all others: Mount Fuji, the tallest mountain in Japan, is a sacred place to the Japanese people, and has been a plave of worship since ancient times.

On the Mount Fuji series, the great mountain stands proudly on an intense black lacquer background, overshadowing scenes of daily life in Japan. In this occassion, a great wave from which seabirds flee.

The technique used was Hira Maki-e (flat), in the application of which the design is created using colored urushi and raw lacquer. It is then entirely coated with silver and gold powder. After drying, several layers of urushi are applied, and when those too have hardened, the pen is highly polished to achieve a deep, lustrus shine.

The Namiki Nippon Art Mount Fuji and Wave fountain pen has a 14kt gold nib (size No.5), and a cartridge/converter filling system. It comes in a luxurious gift box, along with a bottle of ink.
