The Dragon is considered to be a divine creature that offers protection and contributes to prosperity. It is a symbol for strength, wisdom, and good luck. The Dragon is associated in Japanese and Chinese culture with water, and Dragons are ofter portrayed surrounded by water or clouds - as in this instance.

The technique used on this fountain pen is Hira Maki-e (flat), in the application of which the design is created using colored urushi and raw lacquer. The design is then entirely coated with silver and gold powder. After drying, several layers of urushi are applied, and when those too have hardened, the pen is highly polished to achieve a deep, lustrus shine.

The Namiki Nippon Art Dragon and Cumulus fountain pen has a 14kt gold nib (size No.10), and a cartridge/converter filling system. It comes in a luxurious gift box, along with a bottle of ink.
