The K450/K650 was released in 1997, and is part of a series that was available for a relatively short span of time. Although this series was not limited in any way, it is now fairly rare and highly sought after.

The K450/K650 is based on the dimensions of the classic Pelikan Souverän K600 ballpoint. This model appears in Pelikan's catalogues both as K450 and as K650 with identical dimensions and decoration, but we tend to associate it with the 600 series because of the twist-operated mechanism common to the 600 ballpoints, as opposed to the button operated 400 series.
