Stipula Academia Virtus Limited Edition Fountain Pen
The Stipula Academia Virtus Limited Edition fountain pen is a unique sculptural work dedicated to the Ancient Greek Hero Ulysses of Ithaca as depicted in both works of Homer, the Iliad, and Odyssey.
This work of art was created by the famous Italian sculptor Paolo Cerrini and is a limited edition of only 398 numbered fountain pens produced in sterling silver.
The base material of the pen is black lucite, but the barrel is mostly covered by an intricate, three dimensional sculpture created by Cerrini. The centerpiece of the pen is the scene in which Ulysses embraces the dog he had left at home during his 20 years of abscence, Argos. Around Ulysses several memories of his voyages appear, the Trojan Horse on the gates of Troy, Cyclops lifting a stone, his ship flying on the waves, a lotus fruit, all references to the great adventures of his epic tales.
The fountain pen has a screw-on cap that can also be screwed on the back-side of the pen for safety while writing. The cap is decorated with a silver band that carries the engraving "Virtus Memoriae" and is topped of with a blue topaz.
The fountain pen comes with a medium nib that is made of 18kt gold in two tones.
This beautiful and rare fountain pen comes in its original box, along with its certificate, and the original papers provided by Stipula. We believe an exterior cardboard box is missing but the burgundy-colored box is in tact.
