The Ragtime is widely acknowledged as the first Visconti collection with a completely original design.
The first edition of the Ragtime was introduced in 1991, and due to its success, the creativity of the company, and their willingness to experiment with materials, a multitude of iterations flourished. Among them, versions in celluloid, wood, and resins, followed of course by evolutions of the model, in the Ragtime II, and later special and limited editions.
The set listed here is based on the first edition of the Ragtime, the one with the domed cap, and consists of three fountain pens made of different woods. To the extent of our knowledge these are the only woods Visconti produced at the time on this model.
All three fountain pens have integrated pistons, with their knobs hidden under blind caps on the back side of the pen. They come with two-tone stainless steel nibs and have screw-on caps.
One of the most astonishing features of the Ragtime is of course the vintage-inspired clip, and all three pens have it in beautifully decorated gold coated metals.
As often seen in items produced in the early years of Visconti, the fountain pens have minor differences, the most notable being that they differ slightly in length - as listed below.
This triple set is a rare treasure. The pens that form it show no marks of use at all, so we list their condition as mint.
The wooden Visconti Ragtime pens rarely come up for sale, even individually, and as we believe that this is the complete range of woods used, we are listing them as a triplet, despite them being boxed individually. If you are only interested in one of them please contact us by email.
