Stipula Il Dono Limited Edition Fountain Pen

Introduced by Stipula in the year 1996, the Limited Edition fountain pen Il Dono is a unique sculptural writing instrument retelling the myth of the naming of the city of Athens, Greece. Stipula Il Dono Silver was produced in only 988 numbered pieces.

The Italian artist Paolo Cerrini retells the myth in a sculpture that encompasses the pen's cap.

According to legend, the Goddess Athena and the God Poseidon were vying over the city that was meant to become the epicenter of Ancient Greek culture. Each of the two Gods offered the Athenians his greatest gift, so that the Athenians could select only one, and in that manner make the bearer of that gift the protector of their city.

Poseidon offered the city the gift of water, so that the city would never feel thirst. Athena on the other hand offered the city the gift of the olive tree, so that the citizens could cultivate the tree and prosper through its fruits, and rest and study under its shade.

Of course, we all know who won that contest.

The pen is made in silver and an exceptional olive-colored ebonite.

The nib of the fountain pen is made of 14kt white gold. The fountain pen can be used with cartridges, a removable converter, or even as an eyedropper.

This beautiful and rare fountain pen comes in an very unique clay box that has the mimicks the shape of an ancient Greek temple.
