Stipula Da Vinci Battaglia di Anghiari Limited Edition Fountain Pen

The Battle of Anghiari was fought in 1440, and it was a part of the Wars in Lombardy, a conflict between the forces of Milan, and a temporary League of other city-states, among which the Republic of Florence. In that battle, the forces of the League overtook those of Milan, and thus guaranteed their independence.

The Republic of Florence was a part of the League, and hence the winners, so is befitting that the Florentine manufacturer, Stipula, produced a limited edition fountain pen in their Da Vinci Battaglia di Anghiari model.

The Stipula Da Vinci style, is intriguing in all its executions, being a relatively short and stout safety pen. The Battaglia di Anghiari model is even more so as it brings together a brown-red ebonite with silver metal parts in a limited edition of only 193 numbered fountain pens.

The pen has no cap, and instead  by twisting the barrel and the grip a window on the front side of the pen opens, and the retractable nib appears. This is a mechanically interesting and very beautiful pen too. For additional comfort one can rotate the clip to the position in which it will best fit his grip.

The pen has a 14kt white gold nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system that one accesses by pulling the barrel off the grip.

The pen measures 15.7cm long when open, and 13.5cm when closed.

The beautiful and rare fountain pen that we have on offer here is consigned with us by an esteemed collector, and comes with a Medium nib. The pen is used but is in exceptional condition showing no cracks, scratches or other defects. The original box and papers are missing, but the pen will come in an original Stipula box, along with a set of instructions we have produced in store.
