Montblanc's Writer Edition Marcel Proust was released in 1999, and a total of 21000 numbrered fountain pens were produced. This is a piston-filling fountain pen with a delicately decorated silver barrel, and a dedicated 18kt gold nib.

Marcel Proust is one of the great names of world literature. His precise and perceptive descriptions of even the apparently unimportant established the reputation of this French philosopher and writer and made him famous.

His contamporaries admired his great powers of observation, and likened Proust to "a medium which receives the invisible message of things". 

His entire works are inspired by his fascinating artistic love of detail, and Montblanc shared this dedication in producing the Marcel Proust Limited Edition.

Thus, every detail of this limited edition displays truly superlative craftsmanship.

The trim is made of 925 sterling silver, as is the barrel, which features fine engraving in the style typical of Proust's main creative period.

The hexagonal barrel also bears the engraved signature of the writer from which it takes its name.

The top of the cap is surmounted by the ivory-colored Montblanc star.

The 18kt gold nib features the engraving of a tiny hourglass - a reference to his greatest work, "In Search of Lost Time".
