Ferrari is a name synonymous with speed, elegance and luxury, a name established by the car manufacturer from Maranello that Enzo Ferrari founded in 1929.
Ferrari started by building race cars and sposoring race car drivers, but in 1947 the company moved into the production of street legal vehicles as Ferrari S.p.A. Throughout its history, Ferrari has kept a very notable presence in the racing field, and has consistently managed to generate enthusiasm among car lovers all over the world.
The Cavallino Rampante of "Prancing Horse" is the famous symbol of Ferrari, a black stallion on top of a yellow shield topped by the colors of the Italian flag. The origins of the Prancing Horse connect Ferrari to an Ace of the Italian Air Force, a National Hero of the First World War, Count Francesco Baracca. Baracca used to paint a Prancing Horse on the side of his planes for luck, and when Enzo Ferrari met the mother of the Count after a racing victory in Ravenna, the count's mother suggested that he adopts the Prancing Horse as his symbol.
