Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the Year 2022 - Apatite

We tested Pelikan's Ink of the Year 2022 and suffice it to say that we are ecstatic!

According to Pelikan, colors are meant to fuel emotions. If that is true, then the Edelstein Ink of the Year 2022, the Edelstein Apatite, fuels the delightful joy of a day full of sunlight.

The Pelikan Edelstein Apatite has a very bright blue-turquoise hue that recalls the element of water. More specifically, the magnificent color of the sea over a clean sandy seabed.

This is a particularly bright color that really reminds us of summer, and fills us up with genuine happiness. 

The first stroke of Pelikan Apatite on paper is smooth and bright, and although if applied on consecutive layers it does gain a deeper hue, the brightness remains.

This is a fair, liquid ink that assists the flow of your thoughts onto paper, and is on par with the level of quality we have come to expect from Pelikan Edelistein inks. Although we only run a limited test, we would not expect anyone would face problems using this ink.

We would definitely recommend the Pelikan Apatite Ink for daily use, and what is more, we would also suggest using it with a darker colored pen so that you get to enjoy the contrast it would create flowing out of e.g. a Pelikan M800 Black Red.

The only unfortunate part about this ink, is that you will not be able to enjoy its color flowing freely in a demonstrator pen. We test with an Omas Ogiva Demo and - as you see below - this ink absobrs light almost completely - as opposed to what happens with the Pelikan Edelstein Ink of the Year 2019 - Star Ruby that filled our other demo.
