Herbin uses all natural dyes in the inks of the pen. This natural composition is reflected in the very neutral pH of the inks.

Each 30 ml bottle has an integrated pen holder. They are known as "D" pen inks. The "D" stands for the old French unit of measurement "la Demi Courtine".
